Since as long as I can remember, I have always been completely intrigued by the ocean, all of the plants and animals within it, and how they all work together in incredible symbiotic relationships. The beautiful coast of California is filled with unique flora & fauna making this particular intertidal zone incredibly special and a vital part of the health of our overall environment.
I created this statement ring as a reminder of how special our coast is and the need to take care of it to keep it healthy and thriving.
The most special part of this ring is the stone... a 10 million year old agatized fossil whalebone from the Miocene period. I found this gorgeous fossil whalebone on the beach in Santa Barbara County, California. I cut it, hand polished it, and took inspiration from the beautiful California coast to hand silversmith it into this one-of-a-kind sterling silver statement ring. I handmade kelp (one of the most important parts of the California coast) for this super cool ring band out of silver to make this incredibly unique. No part of this piece is cast; it is completely handmade (by me) and 100% one-of-a-kind.
This sterling silver statement ring is a size 9 (the ring band is thick so it fits more like an 8.5-8.75) and measures 20mm x 12mm (stone measurement)

Sterling silver is fine to wear in water, HOWEVER, it will rapidly tarnish if worn in saltwater or a swimming pool
To regularly clean stone and silver, gently scrub with a soft toothbrush, warm water, and dish soap
To remove natural tarnish, if you please, purchase a Sunshine Cloth or Propolish pads to gently rub away excess tarnish. These can be purchased from various online retailers such as Amazon or Rio Grande.
